quilting--check!

As I suspected, school has been crazy. So far, my classes are pretty difficult but a little bit enjoyable. I think I'm better at math than I thought I was because I'm really loving my finance class right now. We'll see if I still love it when midterms roll around...

But in the meantime, I found time to quilt my top from LQ3 I posted a few weeks ago. I had stippled placemats and a doll quilt before, but nothing this big. I had some serious issues with the back getting all creased and terrible. I pinned a million places, but still ended up with puckers and creases all over. I think I'm going to have to find a better method of basting--any ideas??

Anyway, here is the quilt. I haven't decided on a binding color yet. I have some other more important projects to think about so I will hold off on that. I was thinking that the blue from the apple fabric would be good, but my local fabric store doesn't have the right shade. I was also thinking white, but who knows. Decisions, decisions!

It turned out so beautifully! I love the fabrics you chose for that. I had the same problem with puckers on my last tablerunner even though I pinned and pinned. If you come up with a solution, I would love to know!

Oh, it looks GREAT!! the fabrics are fabulous. I've stippled several lap-size quilts on my machine and haven't had a problem with puckers, I don't know why because I don't do much pinning! I'll have to pay attention more and see why it works!
Cheers,

So beautiful! I love the colors so much. I don't machine quilt or piece, I do everything by hand, so I can't help ya!

Lovely! The color combination is wonderful!

As for basting - I do it old school needle and thread. I've found if I tape the backing to the floor (hardwood), then lay the batting and quilt top down, it works pretty well. I baste about every 6" and use contrasting thread to make it easy to spot.
